Welcome to the website of WDC Community
Association !
These pages contain information regarding the activities and services provided by WDC, and we hope your visit provides you with sufficient information to develop an overview of our work. Initially, the three residents associations based in the area (Windermere Green, Dovetail and Camelot) tackled a variety of local issues independent of one another. Because of this, the impact of each group was limited, and during a meeting to discuss ways in which the three groups could best work together in a more effective manner, the concept of 'joining forces' was suggested. The decision to merge into one organisation under the 'WDC' title was taken, and shortly afterwards we began to assemble a strategy for improving the quality of life for our friends and neighbours, and in particular, ways in which we might improve the safety of residents, homes and local businesses. During the development of our Community Safety proposals, we identified a number of priorities, one of which was to become a Registered Charity. WDC gained full Charitable status in 2001, following a lengthy application process, which of course assists us with our prospects for attracting funding for proposed projects. Our board of Trustees consists entirely of local residents who are committed to improving the quality of life for all who live and work in the area. WDC also has a very good relationship with local landlords and regeneration companies (see the 'Our Partners' link on the left of this page). WDC also provides numerous services from the main office on High Park Street in Liverpool, which is a popular focus for community activity. Elsewhere on this site you will learn of the activities and events that we provide throughout the year for local citizens of all ages.
